Seasonal allergies in Las Vegas NV

Eye doctor in Las Vegas NV

Seasonal allergies can have a negative effect on your eyes, and our eye doctor in Las Vegas, NV is prepared to help you with the frustration and discomfort associated with them.

Anyone who has suffered from seasonal allergies is all too familiar with the symptoms, but if you’re experiencing them for the first time, you may notice ocular symptoms such as tearing, a burning sensation, redness, itchiness, and possibly swollen eyelids. Eye symptoms may occur on their own or in combination with nasal symptoms. Why do they happen in the first place? Every allergic reaction, whether in your eyes, nose, on your skin, in your stomach, or anywhere else, is a bodily response to a threat, real or perceived, to your health. So, in a sense, it is fair to say that as annoying as seasonal allergies are, they are your body’s way of protecting you. Fortunately, they do not pose a long term threat to your eye health or your vision, though temporary blurry vision is possible from the effects of the symptoms produced. Our eye doctor in Las Vegas, NV will do a thorough examination. The severity of your symptoms will play a role in determining the most appropriate treatment. Mild to moderate seasonal allergies often respond to over-the-counter medication. Our eye doctor in Las Vegas, NV may recommend prescription medication, but lifestyle changes are also typically helpful. If pollen counts are high, you should keep your windows closed and use an air conditioner if you need ventilation. Avoid rubbing your eyes, which will only make things worse.

Unfortunately, seasonal allergies may seem like they last forever. Until they subside, you can count on our help for relief so that you can return to your regular routine. Call the office of Shannon Chandler, O.D. and Lesa Davis, O.D. today to schedule an appointment.

vision, for a variety of reasons – physical discomfort, lack of aesthetic appeal, and social stigma are among the many. If you would like an alternative to eyeglasses, please do not hesitate to contact the Las Vegas office of Shannon Chandler, O.D. and Lesa Davis, O.D. to discuss contact lenses as an option. You may be very pleasantly surprised.

There are many selections of contact lenses to choose from; our Las Vegas office will help you assess and decide the lens type that suits your needs and preferences. Keep in mind, contact lenses do not come in a standard, one-size-fits-all type. Rather, there are many lens options depending on the type of vision you have, the shape of your eye, and your desired wearing schedule.

The most popular contact lenses on the market are the soft contact lenses. These thin lenses are known for their pliability and comfort —Some wearers don’t even feel them on the eye. Within the soft contact lens type there are sub-categories, some of which include: daily disposable lenses (single-use), extended wear lenses (for overnight wear), two-week lenses, monthly lenses and color-changing lenses. Hard-contact lenses, on the other hand, are rigid alternatives designed to help those who are afflicted by astigmatism, a curvature on the cornea causing distortion of the vision. Astigmatism cannot always be adequately corrected with soft lenses. Hard lenses are excellent for providing sharp vision – they are not, however, as comfortable as soft contact lenses. Hybrid lenses are yet another option, having a rigid center with a soft skirt on the outer portion of the lens. These provide the sharp vision of a hard lens, with the comfort more akin to a soft lens. Browse our selection of contact lenses in our Las Vegas office soon to get your vision on the right track.

Don’t let another day go by without proper vision correction. We pride ourselves in providing a varied, high-quality, and affordable selection of contact lenses that will change the way you view…everything—literally. Check out our contact lenses in Las Vegas NV today.

Cataract Surgery in Las Vegas

Cataract Surgery in Las Vegas

Cataract Surgery in Las Vegas

Thank you for visiting the office of Shannon Chandler, O.D. and Lesa Davis, O.D., where we offer cataract surgery in Las Vegas, NV. Our eye exams and eye screenings help to discover ocular conditions such as cataracts before they can impact your vision. Every year, thousands of people are diagnosed with both glaucoma and cataracts. Our cataract surgery co-management is designed to provide the best, most comprehensive patient treatment, by working closely with surgeons, allowing our patients a safe and speedy recovery.

Cataracts is the condition wherein a film develops in the lens; it is one of the leading causes of blindness in the U.S. today. There is no cure for some eye diseases such as glaucoma – however, patients diagnosed with cataracts may benefit from cataract surgery. Cataract surgery involves replacing the clouded lens in the eye with a clear, artificial one. Cataracts symptoms include blurry vision, vision loss and trouble driving at night. If not treated, cataracts can result in severe vision loss. After cataract surgery, some patients may need to wear glasses. If glasses or contact lenses are required after surgery, we can provide a prescription specifically for you in our office.

An annual eye exam is essential for diagnosing and treating eye conditions, like cataracts, that may lead to vision loss over time. Our tests are designed to diagnose many different eye diseases and conditions. If we discover anything abnormal, we will discuss treatment options with you before beginning a treatment plan. Maintaining good vision is essential, and because eyes change with age, we strive to help you find the right balance between corrective lenses and treatment. If you notice any changes in vision, or have suffered from vision loss due to cataracts, you should consider meeting with one of our doctors to see if cataract surgery in Las Vegas is an option for you. If you have any concerns about your eye health, please call our office today.

Comprehensive eye care in Las Vegas NV

Testing for eye diseases is very important to your ocular health. There are so many reasons why the friendly and experienced eye doctor in Las Vegas NV professionals here at the office of Shannon Chandler, O.D. and Lesa Davis, O.D. are the answer to all of your eye care needs. We use state of the art equipment and the most advanced eye care techniques to test your eyes.

Dr. Chandler and Dr. Davis are pleased to provide patients with an advanced digital retinal exam called EyeScreen. EyeScreen is a high resolution photograph of your retina which will help us document, review, and compare your retina over time. We use the EyeScreen Exam to document your retinal image for our charts, screen for many eye diseases and improve our ability to view your internal retinal health at a much higher resolution than a slit lamp or ophthalmoscope. Dr. Chandler and Dr. Davis are concerned about retinal problems such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal holes, detachment, and diabetic retinopathy (all of which can lead to partial loss of vision or blindness). Additionally, many signs of systemic diseases such as diabetes, the effects of high blood pressure and other diseases can be detected with the EyeScreen Examination.

Dilation is another method to test for eye diseases and an alternative to the EyeScreen Exam offered by Dr. Chandler and Dr. Davis. Dilating the pupils with medicated eye drops allows our optometrists to view more of the inner eye in order to detect problems such as retinal tears, tumors, glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts and damage to the eyes from many health conditions. Side effects of dilation are difficulty reading and light sensitivity for 3 to 5 hours. Our doctors will give you dark glasses to wear home.

Dr. Chandler and Dr. Davis highly recommend having either the EyeScreen or the dilation done with your yearly eye exam to more thoroughly test for eye diseases. We will take the time to review all the findings with you and answer any questions you may have regarding your eye health and these eye tests.

There is no need to look anywhere else for your eye doctor in Las Vegas NV. We have been proudly serving our community and all of its surrounding areas for years, and we work hard to maintain our reputation.

Astigmatism treatment in Las Vegas

Las Vegas eye doctor

Las Vegas eye doctor

Astigmatism is a refractive error (the eye’s inability to properly focus light) that is commonly diagnosed. If astigmatism is affecting your vision, it can be corrected with eyeglasses or contact lenses, or laser eye surgery. If you are experiencing challenges with your vision, schedule an appointment to visit our office to receive exceptional eye care from one of our Las Vegas eye doctor, Dr. Shannon Chandler or Dr. Lesa Davis.

During your visit, you will receive a comprehensive eye exam – the exam will screen for any refractive errors, including astigmatism, as well as for eye diseases or other disorders in vision. Those afflicted with astigmatism have an irregular curvature of the cornea. Our eye doctor will be happy to discuss the different treatment options available for astigmatism, and will provide you with a prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses if necessary. Astigmatism can also occur along with another refractive error, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness. When light enters the eye of a patient that has astigmatism, the light is refracted in more than one direction, allowing only part of the object to be properly focused at any given time. Objects in the distance can appear blurry or fuzzy. Astigmatism is often caused by heredity, and can even be diagnosed at birth. Astigmatism can also be caused by an eye disease, eye injury or surgery. Symptoms of astigmatism may include frequent headaches, eyestrain, and blurred vision. Our optometrists can easily diagnose whether or not you have astigmatism during your comprehensive eye exam. If you ever experience any type of vision change, you should visit our optometry office to determine the source of the problem.

To schedule an appointment to meet with our Las Vegas eye doctor for a complete eye exam or contact lens exam, simply contact the office today.

Seasonal allergies have a reputation for causing stuffiness, sneezing, and runny noses – unfortunately, allergies can also have a significant impact on one’s vision. Schedule a consultation in our Las Vegas eye care office with one of our optometrists, Dr. Shannon Chandler or Dr. Lesa Davis, to discuss treatment and other ways to mitigate the effects of allergies on your vision, ensuring that your vision remains healthy for as long as possible.

When the point arrives wherein seasonal allergies have begun to affect your vision, the signs and symptoms are very similar to those of other eye allergies, or even certain eye infections. You may notice that your eyes are watery, red, itchy, or you may experience a burning sensation. Even your eyelids may become swollen. These symptoms can occur instead of, or in addition to, nasal symptoms due to allergies. Of course, any allergic reaction in your body, whether it affects your skin, nose, eyes, or anywhere else, is a clear indication that your body is fighting a perceived threat. It is doing what it thinks is best for you, and when you come to our Las Vegas eye care office, we will do the same. We can assist in lessening, or eliminating, the discomfort associated with the effects of seasonal allergies. First, you will undergo a thorough examination to make sure that your symptoms aren’t due to an underlying eye disease or infection. Mild cases of seasonal allergies can often be treated effectively with over-the-counter allergy medication. However, prescription-strength drugs may be required, especially if symptoms are severe. Our Las Vegas eye care office can assist in determining the best treatment for you.

The difficulties of seasonal allergies don’t last forever; nonetheless, the effects can certainly be diminished, or removed altogether. Don’t suffer needlessly – call our Las Vegas eye care office and we will schedule an appointment to examine, diagnose, and treat your eyes and vision.

If you wear contact lenses, you can be particularly prone to developing eye infections. If you begin to develop eye infection symptoms, you should make an appointment immediately to see one of our top-notch optometrists, Shannon Chandler, O.D. or Lesa Davis, O.D. At our office, you will receive excellent Las Vegas NV vision care to get your eyes healthy once again.

When people wear contact lenses they are more prone to developing eye infections for several reasons. To begin with, some people handle their contact lenses when their hands are not freshly washed. This makes it possible for bacteria, viral and fungal infections to be transferred to the contact lenses from the patient’s hands. It is important whenever you touch your eyes, insert, remove or handle your contact lenses, that your hands are freshly washed and germ-free. People who sleep in their contact lenses are also at an increased risk for developing eye infections. Eye infection symptoms can include an increased sensitivity to light, a yellow, green or watery discharge from your eyes, increasing redness of the eye or eyelid, a gray or white sore visible on the iris, or blurred or decreased vision. There are also certain symptoms which indicate that you need immediate Las Vegas NV vision care. For example, a feeling that there is something in your eye that cannot be removed can be a sign of a serious eye infection or a foreign body in the eye. If you experience any of these symptoms, it is important that you come into our vision practice for eye care. Eye infections are usually easy to treat; however, they can quickly evolve into more serious vision problems if they are not treated promptly and properly.

Las Vegas NV Dry Eye Doctor

The office of Shannon Chandler, O.D. and Lesa Davis, O.D., is equipped with the technology and knowledgeable staff to treat a wide variety of vision ailments and infections, such as keratitis and conjunctivitis, also known as pink eye. Patients who suffer from eye keratitis or conjunctivitis should receive treatment as quickly as possible to avoid the risk of irreversible damage to the eye or vision. Pink eye can be caused by viruses, allergens, bacteria, a foreign body lodged in the eye, or even chemicals. As an example, wearing contact lenses overnight can result in a buildup of bacteria, which could result in pink eye. Our Las Vegas NV dry eye doctor therefore recommend removing contact lenses every night to avoid unnecessary complications.

There are a large number of viruses that can cause conjunctivitis. Viral pink eye is highly contagious. Patients with the condition should stay away from public places like work or school to avoid spreading the virus. The viral form of pink eye can result in large outbreaks. The bacterial form is more common and less contagious. The bacterial form of pink eye is more common in children than adults; it is one of the leading causes of children being sent home from school. If you believe that your child is suffering from pink eye, call our Las Vegas NV dry eye doctor immediately to schedule an appointment.

There are also non-contagious forms of pink eye, which are caused by allergens and irritants. Allergens can cause a reaction in the body resulting in pink eye; non-contagious pink eye is generally caused by common allergens such as mold, weed, plants, pet dander and others. Allergen-caused pink eye can occur seasonally or throughout the entire year in some patients. Our Las Vegas NV dry eye doctor can treat pink eye immediately with eye drops, medications and other easy and gentle treatments. For more information on how we can provide effective eye care of your family, please call our office today.
